Sarà aperta fino al 20 agosto la call for papers del Convegno di studi “Su altre sponde: contro-narrazioni queer nell’arte dell’Europa del sud e del Mediterraneo: 1800-2000 circa”, che si terrà a Pisa nei giorni 12 e 13 dicembre 2022.
Organizzato da Sergio Cortesini (Università di Pisa), Francesca Gallo (Università di Roma 1) e Giulia Simi (Università di Sassari) nell’ambito delle attività del Progetto di eccellenza del Dipartimento di Civiltà e Forme del Sapere, il convegno internazionale ambisce a stimolare una tradizione di studi storico-artistici inflessi da prospettive queer complementari al canone teorico e storiografico anglo-americano e nord-continentale.
Su altre Sponde incoraggiare nuovi studi nella storiografia dell’arte italiana per tentare un “contropelo” capace di fare affiorare sottotesti queer prima trascurati. Inoltre, il convegno accoglie indagini su opere ed esperienze dall’Europa meridionale o il bacino del Mediterraneo, che esprimano forme di identità soggettive resilienti e inventive, ibride o dissidenti rispetto alle norme sociali, ingaggiando i temi del desiderio, dell’erotismo e della corporeità.
Le lingue del convegno sono italiano e inglese. La partecipazione è gratuita.
L’organizzazione del convegno offre ospitalità per il soggiorno e – compatibilmente con il numero di proposte accettate e dunque la ripartizione dei fondi disponibili – un rimborso parziale o totale delle spese di viaggio, dando priorità ai non strutturati. Dopo il convengo, è prevista la pubblicazione di un volume contenente i contributi più interessanti.

L’esito della selezione delle proposte sarà comunicato entro il 10 settembre 2022.

Is still open the call for papers of the International symposium “On other shores: queer counter-narratives in Southern Europe and Mediterranean Art History, 1800-2000 circa”, which will be held in Pisa on 12 and December 13, 2022.
The symposium at the University of Pisa aims at stimulating a tradition of Art History studies inflected by queer perspectives complementary to the Anglo-American and North-Continental theoretical and historiographical canon. We encourage new contributions to the historiography of Italian art aimed at reading it ‘against the grain’ and bringing to the surface previously neglected queer subtexts. Furthermore, we welcome investigations into works and experiences from Southern Europe or the Mediterranean basin that express forms of subjective identities of resiliency and invention, hybridity and dissidence with respect to social norms, engaging the themes of desire, eroticism, and body.
The conference languages are Italian and English.
Participation in the symposium is free of charge. The organization offers accommodation for the stay in Pisa and—subject to the number of accepted proposals and availably of the budget—a partial or total reimbursement of travel expenses, giving priority to untenured scholars or scholars from the Southern shore.
After the symposium, the most relevant papers will be considered for publication in a volume of proceedings.
